Hi all! This is my first go 'round with blogs so hopefully I can keep up with it through my "busy work and social life" while providing entertainment for myself and to you. My name is Lauren. I grew up as an army brat and loved every second of it. My parents could not have done a better job raising my brother and me, and they are the ones I give my thanks to.
I'll start by giving a little bit of background information about me. I'm an absolute fanantic about anything that surrounds the 1950's and 1960's! I'm sure my blog will cover these periods over and over again. I became obsessed when I found my furniture for college in the back of an elderly woman's garage. I met her in an antique store in Altus, Oklahoma when she overheard me talking about the type of vintage furniture I wanted. For $100, I picked up a worn out, dusty dresser with mirror and bookshelf bed made by Kent-Coffey that was originally red and white. I kick myself all the time for not taking "before" pictures. Staring at the dresser, my reflection in the mirror was no longer visible. The tiny brass legs and drawer pulls of the dresser were almost black, and spider webs lined the inside of the bookshelf. I spent the summer of 2003 in my garage cleaning, sanding, and painting the bedroom set. I have quite a few "after" pictures from previous apartments and a house I lived in while attending college at the University of Oklahoma."If a Miss wants to be kissed instead of cuddled,
And to this you are in doubt as what to say,
When a girl changes from bobby sox to stockings,
Then she's old enough to give her heart away."
-Frankie Avalon, 1959
